New Year (Start This Year Right)
A new year is a great time to start afresh. Here is how you can dream again and live an extraordinary life.
“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14)
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” (Proverbs 16:3)

2. Start This Year Right with God
Sometimes we get so wrapped up in the noise of life, in the busyness of life, that we forget about God. At the start of a new year, choose to get closer to God.
“Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33)
Easter
Easter is a time to remember how Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the price for sin, so that we can be forgiven and have an intimate walk with God that continues beyond the grave, right into eternity.
“For this is how God loved the world that He gave his one and only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 3:16-17)
“But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)
“Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” (Matthew 28:5-7)

Ascension Day and Pentecost
After Jesus rose victorious on the third day, conquering death and settling the debt of sin once and for all, He walked the earth for forty days before ascending into heaven. After this, the Holy Spirit came in power to God’s people on Pentecost.
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you.” (John 14:16-18)
“After saying this, he was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they could no longer see him. As they strained to see him rising into heaven, two white-robed men suddenly stood among them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go!” (Acts 1:9-12)
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
Halloween
Many look forward to Halloween. They see it as a fun and harmless time of dressing up and going trick-or-treating. However, the underlying origin of Halloween is dark and needs to be exposed for what it is.
“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” (Ephesians 5:11)
“So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.” (Ephesians 5:15-17)
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
Christmas
On Christmas, we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. He was born as a baby in a manger in the town of Bethlehem, and He grew up to become the Savior of the world. Jesus is the reason for the season.
“Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today, in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” (Luke 2:10-12)
“You are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21)
“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” (Romans 5:8)
