Are You at a Crossroads in Your Life?

You may be at a crossroads in life. At these moments, you need to make a firm decision.

Do you keep going straight? Do you turn left? Do you turn right? Do you do a U-turn and head back?

The road you decide to take at the crossroads will determine your future destiny. Good choices usually lead to good, fruitful outcomes, but a bad decision can lead to pain and hardship. 

Some choices may seem insignificant, but can have a profound impact on your future. However, the decisions you make will determine where you end up, not only in your temporary life on earth, but this may also determine where you spend your eternity.

When you need to make important decisions, be wise! Always choose life!

Choose Life

I need to encourage you to make good life-giving choices. 

“This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” (Deuteronomy 30:19) 

You are free to choose the road you want to take, but God urges you to choose the path that will lead to abundant life. 

God Speaks

God sees the big picture. He knows what is best for you. He wants to lead you and guide you. 

“The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” (Psalms 32:8)

God is watching over you. Consult Him. 

Jesus said, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27)

Crossroads and T-junctions

When you find yourself at a T-junction or the crossroads of life, make certain that you hear from God and that you take the right road God has ordained that can lead to a blessed outcome. You can trust God. 

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Choices

God gives us a choice. He has set before us the choice of “life and death” and the choice of “blessings and curses”. He urges you to choose life. Make the right choices. 

Some choices are small and insignificant. However, sometimes, even small choices can lead to a messed-up life. 

Two Friends

Peter and Paul were best of friends until they came to a T-junction in their lives. 

In their teen years, Peter and Paul were both invited to a party. It was wild! Both Peter and Paul had a bright future ahead. They came from good homes, they did well at school, and they enjoyed life. 

At this party, Peter, spurred on by the crowd, got drunk. He ended up smoking a joint, and from that moment, his life seemed to spiral out of control. 20 years later, Peter is homeless, craving his next fix, with a trail of hurt and destruction, with two illegitimate children who he doesn’t even have a relationship with.

Peter’s one small choice has left him broken, with nothing to look forward to. Peter ended up on the road to destruction. 

Paul was at the same party. When things got raucous, he had a T-junction moment. He had to choose between following Peter and the rest of the crowd or becoming a party-pooper. Paul decided to leave. He went home. He didn’t want to compromise on his values. 20 years later, Paul is highly respected in his community. He runs his own business. He is happily married and a wonderful Dad.

Paul made good choices. He chose the right road. 

My friend, make wise choices. Choose life. 

Two Brothers

Bob was a drunk. He made bad choices and was always in and out of prison. 

When one of his sons, who followed in his father’s footsteps, was asked why he ended up a drunk, he answered, “What did you expect? My Dad was drunk, and I became what he was.”

When his other son, who became a world-renowned Doctor, was asked why he succeeded, he answered, “What did you expect? My Dad was drunk. I had no choice but to learn from his mistakes and make changes because I didn’t want to end up like him.”

The Vector Principle

Have you heard of the vector principle? When an airplane takes off, it takes a straight path toward its destination. It doesn’t get to a stop street and then turn left. It sets off towards its destination and then only makes tiny changes occasionally to stay on course. If an airplane is on a long flight and it is just 1 degree off, it could be the difference between landing in France or London. 

Small changes can have a huge impact on your future, either positively or negatively. 

I want to encourage you to get on the right path. Keep pressing on. Now and then, you may need to get back on track. You may veer off the right path, but you can get back on track. Just make sure that you allow the Holy Spirit to be your GPS.   

The Big Decision

You will have many crossroads in life, but there is a T-Junction where you need to make THE choice, literally between life and death, between a blessed or cursed future. 

This T-Junction leads to a choice between taking the highway or the narrow road of life…

There is a narrow road to LIFE and a highway that leads to DESTRUCTION. 

The road to LIFE leads to A BLESSED FUTURE. The road to destruction leads to a CURSED FUTURE.

Jesus said, “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14)

The easy road, the highway, leads to hell. According to Jesus, many are on this pathway to destruction. 

Jesus also spoke of the narrow road, the road less traveled, but that leads to abundant life. Jesus told us that the narrow road had obstacles and was difficult at times. He told us that only a few follow this path.

I implore you to CHOOSE LIFE. Enter through the narrow gate. It leads to life.

Do you need direction? 

Is your life in a mess? 

Are you hurting? 

Are you haunted by your past? 

Are you worried about your future? 

Are you stressed out and overwhelmed? 

Are you stuck in sin?

Are you unsure of your eternity? 

Do you feel like you have messed up? 

Do you feel like you have missed it? 

Do you need peace?

Choose life! It is not too late. You can begin again. You can return to God.

Where are you heading? If you keep going where you are heading, where will you end up?

Join the dots…

If you are not happy with where you are heading, you need to STOP. Consider your choices. Make the right change.

“A wise person chooses the right road; a fool takes the wrong one.” (Ecclesiastes 10:2)

Don’t be foolish. Be wise. Take the right road. Life is full of choices, and you need to make the right decision.

Today, enter through the right gate. Get on the right road. Choose life.

Jesus said, “Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.” (John 10:9)
