Life Tip: Life is Short. Eternity is Forever.
It is good to dream and to plan ahead for the future. It is great to live with purpose and passion. It is good to enjoy life and make plans for the holidays. It is also so important to plan for retirement and to set up a Will and Estate plan to protect your loved ones.
We often plan for the here and now, and yes, it is important to plan. But most people never plan for life beyond the grave.
Do you know where you will spend eternity?
If your eternity is a matter of chance, I ask you to seriously review your relationship with God.
The other morning, I drove over Ou Kaapse Weg (a local road). The views are usually breathtaking, but last week it was so misty. Visibility was so poor. I had to put my car’s hazard lights on. Two hours later, I traveled back on the same road. It was completely different. The mist had vanished and the mountain against the bright blue sky and ocean was incredible.
This reminded me of a scripture concerning life…
“How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.” (James 4:14)
The Bible says that life on earth is like a morning fog.
We are here for a while, and then…
Gone.
And yet we often live only for today, with no thought to eternity.
Do you know where you will spend your eternity?
Life doesn’t end at the grave. You will continue to live into eternity in one of two destinations, either with God in his Kingdom (where there will be no more pain or suffering like we face on earth) or separated from God for all eternity in hell (where there is continual pain and torment).
If you have been so caught up in your own life, in the here and now, and if you have not considered your eternity, please take a moment to reflect on God’s plan.
“For God so loved the world (THAT IS YOU), that he gave his one and only son (THAT IS JESUS), that whosoever believes in him (PUTS THEIR FAITH IN HIM) will not perish (DIE SEPARATED FROM GOD IN HELL), but will have eternal life (WITH GOD IN HEAVEN).” (John 3:16)
We had a problem called sin that cut us off from God’s best. But God had a plan to restore this broken relationship.
He sent his Son, Jesus, and he paid the full price for our mess-ups on the cross so that we could be reconnected to God and be made right with him.
Today, make sure of your eternity. Surrender your life to Jesus.
Today you can become a child of God, know God’s forgiveness, and be assured of your eternal life in heaven.
Not only this, but from today you do not have to face another day alone. God wants a close walk with you. He wants to lead and guide you on the best path for your life. He has a good plan for your life and for your eternity, and he wants to walk every step of the journey of life with you.
Let Us Pray…
Dear Jesus, thank you for making a way for me to spend eternity with you. I surrender my life into your hands. I know that I am lost and that I have sinned. I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. Thank you for eternal life. Thank you that I don’t need to face life alone. Thank you that you have a good plan for my life. Today I put my trust in You and choose to follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
