The Supernatural Provision of God
I don’t know what you are going through at the moment or what you need, but I believe that God is able to make a way. He is our supernatural provider.
God knows what you need. He knows everything about you. He knows you better than you know yourself. He knows when you are up and when you are down. He knows when you are coming in and when you are going out.
God knows what is happening in your life. He knows your heartaches, your dreams, and your desires. And He knows your areas of lack!
God can make a way even when there seems to be no way.
I believe that God is going to move in your life. If you need God’s supernatural provision, this series is for you.
God’s Supernatural Provision
1 Kings 17 tells the story of Elijah. The land was in drought, which led to scarcity and a lack of food. God told Elijah to go and live in the village of Zarephath, near the city of Sidon, where a widow would feed him.
1 Kings 17:1 tells us, “As he arrived at the gates of the village, he saw a widow gathering sticks, and he asked her, “Would you please bring me a little water in a cup?” As she was going to get it, he called to her, “Bring me a bite of bread, too.” But she said, “I swear by the Lord your God that I don’t have a single piece of bread in the house. And I have only a handful of flour left in the jar and a little cooking oil in the bottom of the jug. I was just gathering a few sticks to cook this last meal, and then my son and I will die.”
This poor widow’s cupboard was empty. She was broke. She was about to have her last meal with her son until starvation set in. The drought had left her with nothing.
In 1 Kings 17:13, Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid! Go ahead and do just what you’ve said, but make a little bread for me first. Then use what’s left to prepare a meal for yourself and your son. For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: There will always be flour and olive oil left in your containers until the time when the Lord sends rain and the crops grow again!”
This poor widow was prepared to share her food with God’s man. This was her way of putting God first, and God supernaturally provided a supply that never ran dry during the drought.
May God supernaturally provide for you during this challenging season.
God can take the little you have and multiply it.
In 1 Kings 17:15, it says that this widow “did as Elijah said, and she and Elijah and her family continued to eat for many days. There was always enough flour and olive oil left in the containers, just as the Lord had promised through Elijah.”
Are you facing a tough time?
Don’t be afraid!
Hang on in there! God is able to supernaturally provide. Put your hope in God!
Now, a while later, the woman’s son became sick and died.
But God used Elijah to bring this dead child back to life. In the same way, God can resurrect your life no matter how bleak things have become.
Supernatural Oil
In 2 Kings 4:1-7, it tells the story of Elisha.
A widow was in deep debt. Her husband had died and left her in financial bondage. The creditor had arrived, and because she could not repay her debt, he wanted to take her two sons as slaves.
She desperately asked Elisha for help.
In 2 Kings 4:2-4, Elisha asked, “Tell me, what do you have in the house?”
God will often use what you have!
This broke widow told Elisha, “I have nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil,” And Elisha said, “Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbors. Then go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you. Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting each one aside when it is filled.”
Elisha was saying…
“Gather jars. Lots of them!”
“God is about to supernaturally provide!”
“Keep pouring. Don’t stop!”
“God is supernaturally making a way for you to get out of debt.”
“He is making a way to ensure your children can be free.”
“He is making a way for you to survive this crazy season.”
“He is making a way for you to be financially free.”
According to 2 Kings 4:5-7, the widow “did as she was told. Her sons kept bringing jars to her, and she filled one after another. Soon every container was full to the brim! “Bring me another jar,” she said to one of her sons. “There aren’t any more!” he told her. And then the olive oil stopped flowing. When she told the man of God what had happened, he said to her, “Now sell the olive oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on what is left over.”
God can take the little you have, and He can multiply it.
God supernaturally supplied an abundance of oil that provided enough money to wipe out this family’s debt and provided enough to cover all their living expenses.
God is our supernatural provider. Put your trust in Him!
If God did this in Elisha’s day, then He can do it for you!
God Can Supply Your Needs
In Philippians 4:19, Paul assures us that “God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
In John 10:10, Jesus told us, “The thief comes only to kill, steal, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
Don’t Worry
Don’t worry about anything. Seek God.
In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus said, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?”
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?”
Jesus continued, “So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.”
Jesus concluded, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
No matter what you’re facing, I want to encourage you to fix your eyes on Jesus. God can make a way, even when there seems to be no way.
Sometimes, we slip, and we find ourselves worrying if God will provide.
God Will Never Let You Down
I want to assure you that God will come through for you. God is our supernatural provider.
You may be thinking, “Clinton, that’s easy for you to say!”
No, I trust God.
Jesus Christ is alive! He is my Savior and Provider. God’s Word promises me that…
- God has promised that He will never leave me nor forsake me. (Hebrews 13:5)
- Jesus tells me that He came to bring me life and life more abundantly. (John 10:10)
- Jesus says, seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33)
- Nothing is impossible with God. All things are possible with Him. (Matthew 19:26)
- God has plans to prosper us and not to harm us. He has plans to give us a hope and a future. I will find God when I seek him with all my heart. (Jeremiah 29:11)
God loves you. He wants the best for you.
You might say that there is no way. But there is! His name is Jesus. He can make a way even when there seems to be no way. Jesus is the way maker.
According to Isaiah 43:19, God can “make a roadway in the wilderness” and God can even turn your “desert into a life-giving river.”
God can bring a mighty river into your desert zone.
Don’t Give Up
You might say, “But Clinton, I feel like I have this wall around me. I feel hopeless. I don’t know where to turn. Every time I take one step forward, it feels like I get driven two steps backward. It’s dark! The future looks filled with doom and gloom. There is no way out of my situation. I feel like I’m suffocating.”
No.
Don’t give up and quit. Jesus can make a way. He can lift you out of your sinking sand. He has a long, extendable arm of love and can reach down and lift you up, putting your feet back on a solid rock.
Psalms 40:1-4 says, “I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.”
God Can Make a Way
Maybe sin has tripped you up.
God can lift you up out of your despair!
Maybe you are being pressed down from all sides and feel like you have no hope.
Jesus can set you free!
Maybe some addiction has a hold on you.
Jesus can break it!
Maybe sickness is surrounding you.
Jesus can heal you!
Maybe you don’t even know how you’ll be able to make ends meet.
Jesus can provide!
Maybe you are stressed out and don’t know how you will get through it.
Jesus can make a way!
I really want to encourage you to seek first the kingdom of God. Fix your eyes on Jesus. Put your hope in Jesus. He is your Savior.
When Jesus walked the earth, He healed the sick and delivered the oppressed. Jesus even provided for those in need and brought freedom to the captives. He has not changed! He is alive and still does miracles!
Jesus is the Same Yesterday, Today, and Forever!
Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
Jesus has not changed. What He did in Bible times, He still can do today!
Jesus loves you. He wants to meet all our needs. He loves to help His children out.
My Story
Around 28 years ago, I got myself into major debt. I could not pay my rent, and my car was driving on petrol fumes. I didn’t have any money available to even cover my basics. I was stressed out and didn’t know where to turn.
It felt like I had a weight of bricks on my shoulders, like I had this thick mist around my head. I was scared and worried. My mom was telling me to take it to God in prayer, but I saw this as my problem: I had created the debt, and it was my mess to deal with.
But I hit rock bottom.
I got to a stage where I could not take it anymore. One day, completely heartbroken, I fell on my knees, and I surrendered my burden and debt to Jesus.
That day, as I surrendered my burdens to God, He did a supernatural work in my heart. My debt was still there, but after praying, it felt like the mist had lifted, and I had peace in my heart. The heavy load seemed to be lifted off my shoulders.
My debt was still there, but I knew that Jesus was my provider and that he would see me through. I had peace, and in the months and years that followed, God supernaturally provided for my needs, and I was able to get through this.
This difficult time ended up being such a wonderful time. I had to rely on Jesus, and this time was instrumental in growing my relationship with God.
I decided during this time that I would never get back into debt again. With God’s help and some discipline, I have managed to turn my money situation around.
God can help you. He is our supernatural provider.
Cast Your Burdens on Jesus
1 Peter 5:7 says, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
Jesus is waiting for you to turn to Him. Trust Him. He made a way for me. He can make a way for you.
I want to encourage you to put your hope in God.
Psalms 37:25 says, “Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread.”
God Can Open Doors
Acts 16 tells how Paul and Silas delivered an oppressed slave girl. For years, this woman was held in bondage, and God used Paul and Silas to deliver her. For their act of kindness, they were severely beaten and thrown into prison. They were placed in the inner dungeon and chained up.
In Acts 16:25, while chained up in prison the Bible says, “Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening.”
Where were Paul and Silas?
They were in prison!
What were they doing?
Praying and worshiping God!
Even though they had been unfairly treated – beaten, bloodied, and chained up in jail, they were looking to God.
What is the best thing you can do when you are down and out?
You can still pray to God and worship Him!
Acts 15:25 continues, “Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!”
Suddenly… God is the God of the suddenly!
God can open the doors. He can break the chains that are holding you captive. God can supernaturally provide a way out.
If You’re in Trouble, Go to God for Help
There was a man who came from an extremely wealthy family. His Dad was seriously rich. The son had a business that went bankrupt and was seriously battling. His Dad had all the resources and wanted to help his son out.
What would you think of this son if he continued to battle on without consulting his father, who wanted to step in and bail him out?
You would probably think he was crazy.
Yet that is how many people live.
Haggai 2:8 says, “The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, says the Lord Almighty.”
Jeremiah 32:27 says, “I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?”
There is a Heavenly Father who wants to do life with you.
He has all the resources.
He is limitless.
He can do all things.
He wants to help, yet we try to live independent lives.
Call on Jesus.
He is God, and nothing, absolutely nothing, is too difficult for Him. No situation is so far gone that God cannot fix it.
Psalm 34:4 says, “I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”
Draw Near to God
God wants you to approach Him.
James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”
God loves to bless His children. Are you His child? Then put your hope in Him.
Jesus is our Savior. He came to rescue His people. Jesus is our Deliverer. He heals. He can set you free. He is the way maker. He is our supernatural provider.
God can supernaturally provide for all your needs. I want to encourage you to trust Him.
Nothing is Impossible for Jesus
You might say that I talk like Jesus can provide for anything, but Jesus didn’t even have His own home.
Jesus did not have a home because He did not need one. Whatever Jesus needed was always provided.
He is God, after all. Nothing is too difficult for God. He can supernaturally provide.
When Jesus needed to cross the lake, and it was too late to catch a boat, what did He do?
He walked on water.
When Jesus and His disciples needed to pay their taxes, what did they do?
Jesus told them to go fish, and Peter caught a fish with a coin in its mouth that raised enough money to pay all their taxes.
When Jesus was left with 5000 hungry people, what did He do?
He borrowed a little boy’s lunch and fed them all.
One time, Jesus needed a vehicle to enter the town, and a donkey was supernaturally provided.
When Jesus needed a place to eat the Passover meal with His disciples, He told them to go into town. There, they found a man with a big pot, followed him, and the guestroom was already prepared for the meal!
God is able to supernaturally provide no matter how impossible your situation looks.
Jesus knows you intimately. He knows what is up in your life. He knows what is happening in your family. He knows what is happening in your bank account. He knows it all. And He cares.
I want to encourage you to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and hold onto Jesus. Trust Him to supernaturally provide.
Think about it…
It’s as easy for God to pay your rent as it is for Him to buy you a new home. It’s as easy for God to heal a person of a headache as it is for Him to heal a person of cancer.
God is able. Put your hope in Him.
Call on Jesus
I know we are living in very tough times, but I really want to encourage you to look to Jesus. He is our provider.
In Matthew 7:7-11, Jesus told us, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Have you asked God for help?
Come Boldly to God’s Throne of Grace
Hebrews 4:16 says, “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”
The Father wants to provide for your needs.
God wants to be part of every area of your life. He wants you to bother Him with your problems. He wants to do life with you.
Jesus also told us that a time would come when we would be able to go directly to the Father and ask anything using Jesus’ name, and the Father would then answer.
There is Power in the Name of Jesus
In John 16:23-24, Jesus said, “You will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name. You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.”
Who is the Most Generous Person You Know?
God is the most generous person I know.
Do you realize how much God loves you?
We were cut off from God because of sin. God knew that we were lost and hopeless. God is holy and just, and therefore had to punish sin. But God had a plan. Instead of punishing us, Jesus Christ came as our Savior and took the punishment we deserved.
What Mercy!
God withheld the punishment I deserved!
What Grace!
It is undeserved favor. I can’t earn it. It’s free!
God is so generous that He offers forgiveness of sin and eternal life…
Life doesn’t end at the grave. There is a real heaven and hell. God knew our eternity was at risk, so He made a way.
On the cross, Jesus paid the full price for our sins. He died for our sins. He rose again, defeating sin and death, and He is coming back to judge the world.
Are you right with God? Are you a child of God? Or is your eternity at risk? If so, take God’s generous gift of life.
God is so generous that He sent the Holy Spirit…
God promised the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us.
We do not need to face life alone.
Our generous God wants to walk the journey with us.
You can have a personal relationship with God.
God is so generous that He heals, delivers, and sets free…
God is able to deliver you from your oppression.
He came to set the captive free.
God is so generous that He provides for our needs…
God is the way maker.
He is the miracle worker.
He can take your little and multiply it.
He can make a way!
Numbers 6:24-26 says, “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
Prayer to Surrender Your Life to Jesus
Are you lost?
Have you drifted away from God?
Is your eternity at risk?
God loves you. He paid a huge price for you. He wants to forgive you.
Maybe your salvation is a matter of chance. Perhaps you have never invited Jesus Christ into your heart? Maybe you are living in sin? Maybe you used to follow God, but you have grown cold.
Today is your day to come back to God. You can start afresh. Come back…
Let’s pray…
Father, thank You for making a way for me. Thank You for sending Jesus to rescue me. Jesus, I ask you to be my Lord and Savior. Thank You for the price You paid on the cross for me so that I can be set free and live under the shelter of Your protection, not only during my temporary life on earth but right into eternity. Today, I put my life in Your hands and thank You that You are my God, my place of safety, my protector, and my provider. I ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
If you have prayed this prayer, please let us know. We would love to pray for you and send you an incredible eBook to help you on your journey with God.
