What does the Bible say about the End Times?

white clouds on blue sky

Is the end of the world in sight? What did Jesus have to say about the end times?

Are We Living in The End Times?

Many people are currently wondering if we are living in the end times.

There are so many conspiracy theories about how the end will come, and many doomsday prophets seem to arise whenever the world is hit by a crisis.

Over the years many have claimed to have divine revelation of the end times, but can we trust these predictions?

On the other end, some are highly skeptical of any end time revelations and find it hard to believe we are living in the last days of earth’s history.

In 2 Peter 3:3 (NLT) is says that “in the last days there will come scoffers who will do every wrong they can think of, and laugh at the truth.”

They will basically mock God saying “So Jesus promised to come back, did He? Then where is He? He’ll never come! Why, as far back as anyone can remember everything has remained exactly as it was since the first day of creation.'”

bible blur christ christianity. What the bible says about eternity and the end times.

What Does The Bible Say About The End Times?

It goes on in 2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not being slow about His promise to return. No, He is patient with you, for He does not want to see anyone perish.”

In other words, God is not being slow about his promise to return. God does not want anyone to perish. He is therefore giving mankind time to turn to him.

2 Peter 3:10 continues, “For the day of the Lord will come unexpectedly like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.

What Did Jesus Have to Say About The End Times?

While some so called “doomsday prophets” have made audacious predictions and even given specific dates of when the end will come, Jesus made it clear that only the Father knows when the end will come.

NO ONE KNOWS WHEN THE END WILL COME EXCEPT FOR THE FATHER, SO MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE READY TO MEET GOD.

In Matthew 24:36, Jesus says, “No one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows.

In Matthew 24:44 Jesus said, “You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.”

We need to be ready!

I WONDER WHAT THE TIME ON GOD’S WATCH IS…

If the end came today, where will you spend your eternity?

The Signs That Will Occur to Signal The End of The World

In Matthew 24, Jesus was alone with his disciples. His disciples asked him, “Lord, what will happen at the end.” “What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?”

Jesus gave us great insight into what will happen in the end times.

In The Last Days, There Will Be Deception, Wars, Rumors of Wars, a Rise in Racial Division, and Natural Disasters

Matthew 24:4-5

“Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone mislead you, for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many.”

Matthew 24:6 NLT

Jesus went on and said “And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately.”

Matthew 24:7a NLT

Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.”

The word nation actually refers to an ethnic group. In other words, in the last days, there will be an increase in racial tensions.

Matthew 24:7b NLT

“There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world.”

We have seen a huge increase in natural disasters over the past decade.

Matthew 24:8 NLT

“But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.”

In The Last Days, There Will Be a Persecution of Christianity, and Many Will Fall Away from God.

Matthew 24:9 NLT

Christians “will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers.

Matthew 24:10 NLT

And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other.”

In The Last Days, There Will Be a Rise of Fake News and False Prophets

Matthew 24:11 NLT

“Many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people.”

Matthew 24:23 NLT

Jesus also told us that “false Messiahs” and “false prophets” will come to “try and deceive even God’s chosen ones.”

In The Last Days, There Will Be a Rise in Lawlessness, Rebellion, Sin, and The Love of Many Will Grow Cold

Matthew 24:12 NLT

Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold.”

This is happening now. Look at how the values and morals of society are changing. Things that were once deemed evil are now accepted as good, and things that were once accepted as good, are now scoffed at.

The end times will be difficult and dark times.

2 Timothy 3:1-5, tells us …

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of Godhaving a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.”

According to Paul, the end times will be perilous times. They will be difficult times. And people will love only themselves and their money. They will consider nothing sacred. People will love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious. They will have a form of godliness but will deny the power of God.

According to Jesus, in the last days, “sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold.”

But there is still hope. Jesus continued…

Matthew 24:13-14 NLT

“But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.”

In The Last Days, The Anti-Christ Will Arise and There Will Be Great Trouble and Pain

Matthew 24:15-21 NLT

Jesus also told us that “the antichrist will arise” and that “there will be greater anguish than at any time since the world began.”

Jesus Warned Us to Watch Out for The Signs of The Times

Matthew 24:22 NLT

“In fact, unless that time of calamity is shortened, not a single person will survive. But it will be shortened for the sake of God’s chosen ones.”

In 2 Peter 3:9, we are told that God is not being slow about His promise to return, but that he is giving people time to return to him because he does not want to see anyone perish.”

But here in Matthew 24:22, Jesus is saying that God will shorten the time before he arrives.

Do you see God’s love?

On one end he doesn’t want anyone to perish so he is giving people more time to turn back to Him. But on the other side, God wants to shorten the days before he returns because he hates seeing his people in bondage.

Please make sure that you are ready.

Matthew 24:25 NLT

“See, I have warned you about this ahead of time.”

Matthew 24:28 NLT

“Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near.”

In The Last Days, The Heavens Will Be Shaken

Matthew 24:29

“Immediately after the anguish of those days, the sun will be darkened, the moon will give no light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.

Hebrews 12:26-27 confirms this, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.”

There will be a worldwide shaking. The man-made systems of man will be shaken and the heavens will be shaken, but I need to tell you that God’s Kingdom cannot and will not be shaken. God’s Kingdom is eternal.

Hebrews 12:28-29 tells us that God’s children will receive “a kingdom that cannot be shaken.”

Where does your hope lie? Is your hope in a fragile worldly system or in God?

I implore you to put your hope and faith in God.

If you are part of God’s Kingdom, you can stand secure!

You don’t need to fear.

How can you keep it together when the world is falling apart? Just put your hope in Jesus.

Now, look at what will take place after the shaking…

Jesus Will Then Return to Fetch His People and Judgment Will Follow

Matthew 24:30

And then at last, the sign that the Son of Man is coming will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning among all the peoples of the earth, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”

“He will send out his angels with the mighty blast of a trumpet, and they will gather his chosen ones from all over the world—from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven.”

Then Jesus will return to fetch His chosen people.

We Do Not Know The Day That Jesus Will Return, But We Are Living in the Last Days

Matthew 24:32-33

“Now learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branches bud and its leaves begin to sprout, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things, you can know his return is very near, right at the door.”

We need to be ready. Will you be ready if the end comes?

Based on the Bible and what Jesus had to say about the end times, it is clear that no one knows the exact day that Jesus will return, but we can clearly see that we are in the last season.

I wonder what the time is on God’s watch.

Matthew 24:36

“However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows.”

The End Times Will Be Like it Was in The Days of Noah

Then Jesus said that when He returns,

Matthew 24:37-39 NLT

When the Son of Man returns it will be like it was in Noah’s day. In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes.”

When Jesus returns it will be like it was in the days of Noah. People will be carrying on with their lives completely oblivious to the fact that the end is about to come.

In the days of Noah, the world had become an extremely wicked place.

The people of Noah’s day were led astray by deviant deceptive spirits.

There was rampant sexual perversion.

The earth was filled with violence.

The people had become godless.

Genesis 6:5 tells us how God viewed the people in Noah’s generation…

“The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.”

The hearts of the people had become so wicked and evil that God actually regretted making man.

Doesn’t this sound a lot like the world we live in today?

Violence, corruption, sexual perversion, godlessness.

According to Jesus, when the end comes, people will just be carrying on with their lives completely unaware of what was about to happen, just like in the days of Noah, when the flood came up out of nowhere.

1 Thessalonians 5:2-3 says, “For you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, ‘Peace and safety,’ destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.”

A pregnant lady knows when she is pregnant, and others will also know as they will see the bump on her stomach, however, the lady does not know the exact time that the baby will be born. In the same way, we can see signs of the end times, but we do not know exactly when Jesus is coming.

If The World Ended Today, Would You Be Ready?

Matthew 24:40-42

“Two men will be working together in the field; one will be taken, the other left. Two women will be grinding flour at the mill; one will be taken, the other left.”

“So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming.

Those who have accepted Jesus will spend eternity with Him in heaven where there will be no more pain or suffering.

Those who are left behind will spend eternity separated from God. Judgment will be inescapable.

Matthew 24:44

You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.

Jesus continued in Matthew 25 and told a parable of the 10 virgins to illustrate what will happen at the end.

The brides-to-be took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 5 of them were wise, they came well prepared, while five were foolish, and ended up missing the wedding banquet because they ran out of oil and needed to rush back to town.

Matthew 25:10-13 NKJV

“And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.”

“Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.”

Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.”

The Two Friends

I heard the story about two friends. One was a Christian and knew Jesus Christ intimately as his Lord and Saviour. His friend however did not have a relationship with God.

On many occasions, the Christian friend wanted to have a deep and honest chat with his friend about Jesus and the afterlife, but he never did.

His friend was involved in a tragic accident and died.

That night the Christian friend had a profound dream: He saw himself going up to heaven, and his best friend free falling downwards, into a flaming furnace. He was screaming: “Why didn’t you tell me! Why didn’t you tell me?”

This dream haunted this Christian. From that moment on he made a decision that he would never again miss an opportunity to share the good news of Jesus and the message of eternity with all who came across his path.

Do you know Jesus? Is your eternity a matter of chance? If so, please get your life right with Jesus.

Please make sure to tell your friends and family about the Good News: that there is a loving Savior who warned us about the end times and made a way to eternal life before it is too late!

white clouds on blue sky. Eternity and the end times.

What Awaits Us in Eternity?

In Matthew 13:24-36, Jesus told a parable about the “wheat and the weeds”. to illustrate what would happen in eternity.

Jesus told us that “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who planted good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and planted weeds among the wheat, and went away. When the wheat sprouted, the weeds also appeared. The owner’s servants wanted to pull the weeds out but the owner said ‘No, don’t, because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. Rather let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: “First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.”

Later Jesus explained the meaning of this parable to his disciples…

In Matthew 13:38, Jesus told us that the field represents the world. The wheat represents God’s children while the weeds represent the children of the devil. The harvest represents the end of the world.

In verse 40 Jesus said “As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears, let them hear.”

Jesus shows that life does not end at the grave. You and I will continue to live on into eternity, either with Him or separated from Him.

Do you know where you will spend your eternity?

Are You Prepared for Eternity?

1 Thessalonians 5:2 tells us that “the day of the Lord’s return will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night.”

If Jesus returned today, would you be ready?

The Bible talks about heaven and hell, the final destination.

Hell is a place of continual torment. It is a place of lost hope and excruciating pain and complete separation from God’s living water, where we are cut off from His peace, His presence, and His goodness and love.

As hell is the final abode for all who live and die in their sin, so heaven will be the final resting place for God’s children, for all who have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus.

In heaven, we will know perfect love and have perfect peace and rest. There will be no more pain, no more bondage, no more darkness, there will be no more sorrow, no more sickness, and no more financial stress. There will be no more tears or death.

Are You Ready for Eternity?

If you are not in a relationship with God, please invite Jesus Christ into your life to be your Lord and Savior…

Do you want to start or restart your walk with God? If you feel led to, click here to pray a simple prayer we have set up for you.

We were cut off from God due to our sins, but Jesus paid the full price on the cross so that we could be reconnected to God. God loves you so much that He made a way for you to become part of his family. He wants to share forever with you, and he wants to be your Savior. He invites you to be His beloved child.

Conclusion

We are living in the last days. We do not know when the day or the hour will come, but we know that we are living in the last season. Depending on your relationship with God you will either end up in one of these two destinations, either in heaven or in hell.

I wonder what the time on God’s watch is.

The world seems to be broken and the days seem to be getting darker and darker. Are we possibly approaching the end of time? The world seems to be getting progressively worse.  Things seem to be falling apart.

We are closer to the end of the age than ever before. We are living in the last days.

If the world ended today will you be ready to meet God?

In Matthew 24: 44 Jesus said, “You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.”

Maybe you don’t know Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Have you drifted away from God?

Maybe you are just not sure of where you stand with God.

Today, I ask you to consider your ways, consider your future destiny. Return to God.

Where will you spend your eternal future?

Where do you stand with God?

Are you ready?
