The Bible, The Church, and The Holy Spirit
Is the Bible actually the Word of God? What’s going on with the church? Who is the Holy Spirit, and what does this have to do with me? If you have ever asked one of those questions, this page is for you.
The Bible
The Bible is God’s Word to you and me. It offers life-giving wisdom for every circumstance and gives us hope for when we need it most. The Bible is true, it is the living word of God, and it can change your life: I dare you to read it.
“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” (Matthew 24:35)
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)
The Church
The church is described as the body of Christ on earth, the family of God, and the bride of Christ. While the early church walked in supernatural power, the modern-day church seems to be going through the motions. I believe we need to put God first, wake up, and prepare for God to move mightily.
“And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.” (Romans 1:16)
“For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes.” (Romans 1:16)
“Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.” (Mark 16:15)
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the third member of the Godhead (Trinity). We have The Father, The Son (Jesus), and The Holy Spirit. I want to show you how the promised Holy Spirit wants to empower and fill you so that you can have a close and personal relationship with God.
“Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 1:4-5)
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.” (Acts 2:1-4)
