Money Management Principle: Don’t Trust in Money, Trust in God.
Don’t put your trust in money. Put your trust in God. Let God be your source and the center of your life. God wants you to be fruitful.
“Trust in your money and down you go! But the godly flourish like leaves in spring.” (Proverbs 11:28)
And don’t think that money will make you happy.
Money can make your life complicated and can cause temptation.
“Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness!” (Ecclesiastes 5:10)
While money can be a great blessing and make a positive difference, and money may bring temporary relief and the ability to enjoy the finer things in life, remember that money will not make you happy and will not buy you lasting peace.
Where is your hope? Where is your focus?
God or Money.
Jesus said, “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” (Matthew 6:24)
Don’t put your hope in money. Put your hope in God.
Jesus continued, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows you need them.” (Matthew 6:25-32)
I want to encourage you to trust not in money and material possessions but in God.
Jesus summed it all up when he said, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33)
God wants to be your source. He wants you to rely on Him.
You don’t have to face life alone.
Invite Jesus to be the center.
You can trust him.
He knows what is happening, what you need, and what is best.
So put your hope and faith in God.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
