Life Tip: Consider How Things Are Going
“Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders work for nothing. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the men who watch over it stay awake for nothing. You rise up early, and go to bed late, and work hard for your food, all for nothing. For the Lord gives to His loved ones even while they sleep.” (Psalm 127:1-2)
It is useless to go through life alone, working hard and trying to do everything in our own strength, when God, the creator, and sustainer of life, invites you and me to do life with him and trust in him.
Have you been so busy building your own life that you have neglected your walk with God? If so, I need to encourage you to get your priorities in the right order:
Return to God. Put Him first. Surrender your failures and your future dreams to Hi. Live for him. Rest in him and rely on his grace and leading.
In the book of Haggai, a short book in the Old Testament of the Bible, God sent a message to his people.
God asked his people, “Why are you living in luxurious houses while my house lies in ruins? This is what the Lord Almighty says: Consider how things are going for you!” (Haggai 1:4-5)
God went on, “You have planted much but harvest little. You eat but are not satisfied. You drink but are still thirsty. You put on clothes but cannot keep warm. Your wages disappear as though you were putting them in pockets filled with holes! This is what the Lord Almighty says: Consider how things are going for you!” (Haggai 1:6-7)
God’s people, who once had God at the center of their lives, had let go of him.
They were so wrapped up in their own lives, living selfishly, consumed with their own agendas, worries, and concerns, that they had neglected their source. They had drifted from God. Their relationship with God was at best shallow or non-existent. They had neglected God.
God’s temple was in ruins, but they were so busy living their own lives, building their own empires, consumed with their own issues, that they had neglected God.
God’s temple was falling apart while their lives were full of stuff.
God said to his people, “Consider how things are going for you!”
Things were not going well.
God’s people had lack, shortfall, and drought. They were not satisfied, they were unfulfilled, and they were hungry and thirsty.
Something was missing. These people were empty. They were so busy building their own lives, but they were empty and they had no satisfaction.
These people realized their error. They repented. They decided to put God first and began to rebuild the temple.
As soon as God’s people returned to Him and restarted building the temple – as soon as the foundation was laid, God began to bless them.
Where do you stand with God today? Have you let go of God? Have you been so busy building your own life that you have possibly neglected God?
If so, return to him today!
God loves you and he made a way for all people to come into relationship with him, a walk that can start today and go right on into eternity.
There was a problem called sin that cut us off from God. But God sent his Son, Jesus, and he paid the full price for our mess-ups on the cross so that we can be made right with God.
Because of the finished work of Jesus on the cross, your life can be healed and reconnected to God.
Today, if you have been so busy building your own life, and you have neglected God, turn back to Him, and put Jesus at the center.
Call on Jesus. Today you can put your trust in God.
Let us Pray…
Dear Lord Jesus, I need you. I know that I am lost and that I have sinned. I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
If you have prayed this prayer, please let us know. We would love to pray for you and send you an incredible eBook to help you on your journey with God.
Dear Clinton
