God’s Blueprint for Successful Living
Are you aware that Jesus gave us a formula for success?
Jesus told us, “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)
The Formula is Simple…
Jesus told us, “Do not worry.” (Matthew 6:31)
Jesus then said, “Your heavenly Father knows all your needs.” (Matthew 6:32)
Jesus then told us, “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)
Again, Jesus continued, “So don’t worry!” (Matthew 6:34)
In other words, Jesus is telling us,
- Don’t let worry dominate your thoughts.
- Don’t worry about material possessions.
- Don’t get distracted by the temporary cares of this world.
- Don’t pursue wealth and material things before God.
- Rather, put God first,
- Seek God’s Kingdom above all else,
- Live right,
- When you do, God will give you everything you need,
- He then reminds us, so don’t worry!
Jesus is giving you and me a formula for successful living!
He tells us that before we strive for anything else, we need to make God our top priority. Just “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.”
When we do, God will provide for our needs.
The Kingdom of God is not a democracy.
It is a Kingdom, and It belongs to the King. It is the King’s domain. The King is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. The King cannot be outvoted. The King has complete power and authority. The Kingdom falls under the authority and influence of the King.
God’s Responsibility
Jesus is saying…
“Don’t worry about money, clothes, food, security, or property.”
“I’ve got this.”
“I know your needs.”
“I’m the King.”
“All these things are my responsibility.”
“I will look after you.”
“I am your provider.”
Your Responsibility
Jesus is saying, “Just seek me.”
Seek the King. Seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.
All you need to do is seek the King. Follow the rules of His Kingdom. Live right. Do the right thing. Live to please the King. Obey him. And when you do, ALL THESE THINGS WILL BE ADDED UNTO YOU.
Make it your pursuit to live life with God as the backbone, with God at the center of everyday decisions and actions.
Always put God first.
In the Old Testament, Joshua faced the daunting task of leading God’s people (over 2 million) into the promised land. God told him, “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:7)
God gave Joshua a blueprint for success…
- Be strong and courageous,
- Obey God and His Word,
- Don’t turn from God or His Word. In other words, seek the King and His Kingdom and submerge yourself in the Word of God.
God told Joshua that if he followed this recipe, he would be SUCCESSFUL wherever he went.
God went on. He expanded on this and told Joshua, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:8-9)
God was telling Joshua, “Hey Josh, if you want to succeed and prosper…”
- You need to keep your eyes on me.
- Keep speaking God’s life-giving words. Keep God’s word on your lips.
- Keep praying.
- Meditate on the Word of God both day and night, and
- Obey God’s Word,
- Be strong.
- Be courageous.
- Don’t fear.
- Don’t get discouraged.
- Remember, I am with you always.
God promised Joshua that if he did these simple things, he would be SUCCESSFUL and PROSPEROUS, and that God would NEVER LEAVE HIM, but that God WOULD BE WITH HIM wherever he went.
Speak the word of God.
Spend time in prayer.
Meditate on God’s Word.
Obey God.
Be strong. Be courageous.
By the way, meditating means to mutter.
Put another way, meditating is chewing on the Word of God.
A cow has four stomachs. When a cow eats grass, it swallows it. It enters the first stomach, but sometime later, the cow regurgitates the grass and chews on it again. This process continues. Just like the cow chews the cud, you need to ruminate on the Word of God and keep bringing it up. Keep chewing and meditating on the Word of God until it becomes part of your whole life.
Live to honor God in all you do. Make it a priority to get to know God. Live to please God in all you do. Live out God’s calling with a God-centred life of loving God and loving people.
Simply seek God and His righteousness first.
When you do, God will provide for all your needs.
Are you putting God first? Do you know Jesus as your Savior?
If not, invite Jesus to be your Lord and Savior.
Let’s Pray
Father, I give you my life along with my burdens and failures. Lord Jesus, I ask you to be my Savior. Be the central part of my life. Today, I choose to “seek first the kingdom of God and Your righteousness”. Lord, I put my life in your hands and want to please you in all I do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
If you have prayed this prayer, please let us know. We would love to pray for you and send you an incredible eBook to help you on your journey with God.
I would encourage you to “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.”
Put Jesus first.
Hand him the reigns.
Trust Him.
He will meet all your needs.
Paul confirmed that God will take care of our needs when he said, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
Jesus is the Savior. He is Lord. He came to rescue us. He is our provider. He has all power and authority in heaven and earth. He wants you to make him your first priority.
When you do, He’ll take care of the rest.
