Easter – Remember, Reflect, Recognize and Reset
Easter is a time to remember how Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the price for sin, so that we can be forgiven and have an intimate walk with God that continues beyond the grave, right into eternity.
“For this is how God loved the world (YOU) that He gave his one and only Son (JESUS) so that everyone who believes in him (PUTS FAITH IN JESUS) will not perish (HELL) but have eternal life (STARTING TODAY AND CONTINUING FOREVER TO HEAVEN). God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 3:16)
Jesus is the Savior of the world.
Easter is a great time to
- REMEMBER what Jesus did for you and me,
- REFLECT on how Jesus died on the cross to pay the price for our sin so that we can be re-connected to God,
- RECOGNISE how Jesus won the victory. He conquered death. He rose. He is alive.
- RESET your life
There is a great attack that is happening against Christianity at present.
Many are trying to discredit Jesus and the Christian faith. Even within the church at large, there seems to be a great falling away from the true gospel, with progressive liberal theology painting a complicated and distorted view of Christianity.
“Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons.” (1 Timothy 4:1)
“They will act religious (or spiritual), but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!” (2 Timothy 3:5)
No wonder Jesus warned us that in the last days, “Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold.” (Matthew 24:12)
According to God’s Word, in the last times, some will turn away from God and be deceived. Others will pretend to be religious, but they will be spiritually dead. Still, others will be so “spiritual” but will not know Jesus intimately.
A growing number of people believe that many roads lead to eternal life.
But Jesus told us in John 14:6 that he is “the way, the truth, and the life”, and that “no one can come to the Father except through me.”
Jesus also spoke of a HIGHWAY that leads to HELL, and that MANY are on this road leading to DESTRUCTION. Jesus also said that there is a NARROW ROAD that leads to LIFE and that ONLY A FEW FIND IT. (Matthew 7)
Jesus is the only gateway to life. (John 10:9)
God has been kicked out of most schools. Cancel Culture is canceling Christ, trying to make Christianity look like an archaic condemning religion that puts people in bondage. Nothing can be further from the truth for God is a God of such GRACE, MERCY & KINDNESS, who did not come to condemn the world but to forgive the world and set captives free.
Many are trying to portray Christianity as an old wives’ tale, and a lie.
I recall a few years back, on an Easter Sunday evening, the day that Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, (probably the holiest day on the Christian calendar), a news bulletin on a local TV network crossed live to Jerusalem to show pictures of the grave where the journalist reported it is believed that Jesus IS buried. (Not where he was buried, but where he is buried). This journalist was trying to mock Christianity on the holiest day. What a sick joke! Complete blasphemy!
My friend, Jesus died on the cross. Yes, he was buried in the tomb, but the cross is empty. The grave is empty. Jesus died, but on the 3rd day, he rose from the grave, defeating death, paying the full price for sin, thereby making a new life-giving way for all people to find eternal life, and to come into a relationship with God.
Easter is all about Jesus. He is the Savior.
Are you ready?
Without a Savior, your eternity is at a huge risk. Life on earth is so short. Eternity is forever. According to the Bible 1000 years on earth is like a day in eternity. Therefore, even if someone lives to 100, it is equivalent to a few hours in eternity. And what do we do? We get so stuck in the current world, without an eternal perspective, frantically running, worrying, and stressing about life here and now, and we give no thought to the big picture.
One day, each one of us will die. That is unless Jesus comes before. We need to be ready. Are you ready?
In eternity there is a heaven and a hell. Do you know where you will spend your eternity?
The good news is if you have messed up, or fallen away, you can RESET your life. This is what Easter is all about. Jesus came as the SAVIOUR, to SAVE people who had messed up.
The Bible tells us that “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
This includes you.
No matter what you have done, or where you find yourself today, the good news is that you can invite Jesus to be your Lord and Savior and reset your life. Jesus can make all things new. He saves. He forgives. He sets free.
This Easter, I want to encourage you to look to Jesus. He is the Savior of the world, and he made a way for all people to find forgiveness so that they can come back into a relationship with God and share eternity with him.
Jesus paid it all.
He died on the cross and he rose from the grave making a way for all people to experience the NEW BIRTH. This is the real Easter story.
Jesus fought the greatest battle ever fought. It was a battle over sin and death. It was a battle for the eternal souls of all people.
JESUS WON THE BATTLE SO THAT YOU AND I CAN COME BACK INTO A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.
EASTER is a time to RESET your life
Have you messed up? Are you haunted by your past? Are you heading down a path that you know is destructive? You may find yourself living in a dark place. Sin may have tripped you up. Bad decisions may have you bound. You may be wounded, held captive, and lost. Have you let go of God? Have you grown cold, or wandered away from God?
This Easter, you can reset your life. You can start afresh.
Repent. Turn from sin. Turn to God. Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
No matter what you have done, or where you find yourself today, the Good News is that you can invite Jesus to be your Lord and Savior.
In 2 Corinthians 5:17, we are told, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
If you want to reset your life, you can call on Jesus right now…
Dear Lord Jesus, I need you. I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
