A New Year is a Great Time to Start Afresh with God

A New Year represents a great time for a new start. 

May the year ahead be greatly blessed and highly favored. May you experience God’s underserved grace, His abundant peace and exceeding joy. May God bless you.

God wants a closer walk with you

Above all, may this year be a new start in your walk with God. May you come into a deeper relationship with God. He wants a moment by moment walk with you. He desires intimacy with you. He does not want you to do life alone.

In the crazy, complexed, and uncertain world in which we live, it is vital to have a close relationship with God.

He is the all powerful, all knowing, and ever-present God.

He knows what is happening. He knows what is best.

He has the one word that can give you the answer to your questions, a solution to your problem and who can give you clarity, comfort, and direction. It is therefore important to know God.

God wants a closer walk with you.

Psalm 23 tells us, “The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalm 23:1-6)

You do not need to face an uncertain future or a daunting decision alone – God wants a close walk with you. 

Get to know Jesus

Jesus told us, “I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me.” (John? ?10:14)

Jesus also told us, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me,” (John? ?10:27-28?)

How do you develop a close relationship with someone? – You spend time with them.

You talk and listen to them, and over time you get to know the person better as you grow closer to them. 

It is the same with God.

Sometimes we live such busy and noisy lives that we don’t get to really know God. The more time you spend with God, the closer you will get to him. Over time you will get to know him intimately. 

Get closer to Jesus

So, get close to him. 

“Come near to God and he will come near to you.” (James? ?4:8?)

Draw near to God. 

Share your heart with God 

Tell God your fears and your concerns. Cast your burdens on him.

Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. “For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give is light. (Matthew? ?11:30?)

Share your dreams and desires with God.

“Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.” (Psalm 37:3-4)

Share your plans and goals with God.

Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you. (Psalm 37:5)

One word from God can change everything

Jesus has the one word that can:

• Change your life
• Bring you direction
• Put you on the right road to a fruitful future
• Lead you on towards your destiny
• Bring hope and peace
• Bring comfort
• Ensure protection
• Put you in position to be greatly blessed

Often we only consult God as a last resort when all other options are exhausted.

Sometimes we put all our hope and faith in everything but God. Often we get so wrapped up in our own lives and agendas, and we stuff our lives so full of things, that we forget all about God. 

Ask God for help

God desires a close relationship with you. He wants you to bother him with your problems. He is interested in every part of your life.  

Jesus told us, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” (Matthew? ?7:7-8?)

God loves you. He cares about you. Often we do not ask God for help, but He wants to be part of every area of your life. 

Are you worried? Are you concerned about the future?

Ask God for help. Seek him. Surrender your burdens to him. Submit your life to him. 

A NEW YEAR IS A NEW START WITH GOD AT THE CENTRE OF YOUR LIFE

The new year is a great time to start afresh with God.

Often our lives are so full of junk. Often we get so overwhelmed with worry and the cares of this world. 

Choose at the start of a new year to get closer to God.

God made you. He loves you. He wants the best for you. He has good plans for you. 

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in the noise of life, in the busyness of life, that we forget about God.

It’s time to put God first.

Jesus told us not to worry about life. He said that we should rather, “Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew? ?6:33?)

May this year be the year that you develop an intimate walk with God.

Start your day off with God. Spend time with God. Read your Bible. Meditate and reflect on what God is saying. Pray. Wait on God. Seek him. Get quiet with God.
