It is time to get fired up for Jesus!
On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your relationship with God?
1 – Cold
5 – In the middle
10 – Hot
Is your relationship with God hot?
How is your prayer life? Are you reading your Bible?
Do you have a close relationship with God? Are you sold out for God? Are you living for God? Do you spend time with God?
Do you worship God?
Are you planted in a Church and living to please Him in all you do?
Are you living with integrity and striving to do the right thing?
Are you heavenly minded?
While we all blow it from time to time, are you working on your walk with God and drawing close to Him?
If you are seeking God and living to please him, then your relationship with God is hot!
Is your relationship with God cold?
You may only be consumed with your own life, with no thought of God.
Maybe you don’t believe in God. Maybe you do not have a relationship with God?
Do you have no interest in God?
Maybe you used to follow God many years ago, but you have grown cold. The cares of the world may be consuming you. You may have drifted from God. You may be caught up in sin and your once vibrant walk with God has died.
Is your relationship with God cold?
Are you caught up in the middle?
You may be neither hot nor cold for God. You may be living your life in between. You believe in God, but you have a long-distance walk with God. You go to Church from time to time, but you only have a shallow walk with God. You may pray when you are facing a tough time, but generally you don’t spend time with God. You have a Bible, but you don’t often open it. You try to stick to good morals and values, but God must fit in with your plans, and you’re not trying to fit in with God’s agenda. You may have compromised your walk with God. You may be living in a state of spiritual complacency. Lukewarm. Numb. Maybe you are just going through the motions.
If this represents your life, then you are caught in the middle. This is a very dangerous place to be. If you drive in the middle of the road, you will have a head on collision.
What is your spiritual temperature?
Jesus told us that in the last days, “Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold.” (Matthew 24:12)
This is the sign of the times. In fact, we are told that in the end times, many will have “a form of godliness but denying its power.” (2 Timothy 3:5)
In other words, so many people will sound religious or even spiritual but will be spiritually dead.
If you are cold and indifferent towards God, you at least know your true spiritual condition. However, many who are living in between think everything is ok in their relationship with God, but according to Jesus, this is a dangerous place to be and it comes with eternal consequences.
In Revelation 3:15-16, Jesus said, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.”
God wants you to either be fully sold out for him or to reject him. Either be fired up for God or let go of God, but don’t be in-between. When we compromise, or live half-in and half-out in a state of Luke warmness, it makes God sick. This middle zone of compromise can give one a false sense of security, but according to Jesus, he wants to spit us out when we live this way.
Be honest with yourself. Examine your life. Examine your relationship with God. Where do you stand? Have you grown cold? Have you become half-hearted? Is your walk with God lukewarm? Are you possibly using religion as a cheat for a real relationship with God?
God wants you to be fired up!
God doesn’t like seeing you and me lukewarm. God wants you to get fired up for Jesus.
2 Timothy 1:6-7 tells us to “fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you.”
Today God can reignite a flame in your heart.
Jesus is the one who “baptizes with fire and the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 3:11)
We were cut off from our Holy God because of sin. But Jesus paid the full price by shedding his blood on the cross so that we can find forgiveness and come back into a relationship with God.
Jesus died for you and me. He then rose from the grave and ascended into heaven. He will one day return to fetch those who have taken him as their Lord and Savior, and he will judge the world. But Jesus also told us that it is better that he goes back to heaven so that the Holy Spirit would come.
When God poured out His Spirit on the early believers, “separate flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:3-4)
Empowered by the fire of God the early Church “turned the world upside down.” (Acts 17:6)
God wants you to be fired up for him. He wants to baptize you with fire and the Holy Spirit. He wants to put a fiery passion in your heart.
God wants to pour out his revival fire on you!
In India in 1095, a group of young girls were praying. God began to fill them with power from on high. On their knees, these young ladies were seeking God and they were overwhelmed with God’s presence as God poured out His Spirit on them. A ring of fire surrounded one of the girls. Another girl in the group, afraid, ran to get a bucket of water to put the fire out. But the girl surrounded by the ring of fire told the others how God had touched her and filled her. She asked the other girls to repent and to turn back to God. She then prayed for her friends, “Oh Lord, I’m full of joy. Please forgive and cleanse my sisters as you have me.” She continued, “Oh, we must have revival. Lord bring it today!”
God poured out his revival fire on this group of hungry girls. As God touched these young ladies, many felt a holy burning within them. They called it a baptism of fire, and their faces shone with the Glory of God.
If you have grown cold in your walk with God, I implore you to seek God. I pray that God will pour out his revival fire on you.
God wants to burn up the rubbish with His Holy Fire & bring freedom!
Many years ago, I remember praying for a young lady. She was in a dark place. Her eyes were black, her complexion was dark, and she looked weighed down, sad and dejected, like she had a spirit of heaviness on her that was oppressing her.
My prayer was simple. All I asked was for God to touch her and fill her. As I prayed for her, she fell under the power of God. God poured out his spirit in power. After spending a few minutes in God’s presence, her entire complexion changed. Her face was radiant. Her eyes sparkled. God had poured out his revival fire and her life was forever changed.
Later, I heard her story. This precious young lady had been sexually abused and raped. She had been in a dark place, but God supernaturally touched her. He set her free. He healed her. He brought hope and a new lease on life. God healed her of her hurts, and he poured out his revival fire on her. She was forever changed.
Maybe you feel like darkness has its claws in you, like you are in a destructive gloomy place of oppression. God can light a Holy Fire in your heart that will burn out the oppression and darkness, and ignite a new flame in your heart that will bring light and a new glow.
God can fan into flames a new passion in your heart!
Maybe you are living in a state of Luke warmness. Maybe you are just going through the motions in your walk with God. Dead religious traditions may have become a cheap substitute for a close, real, and intimate walk with God.
God wants you to be hot for Him. He wants to pour out his revival fire on you. God wants to empower you. He wants to touch you. One touch of the Glory of God and your life will never be the same again. He wants to fan into flames a new fire of passion in your heart. He wants you to be fired up ,once again, for the things of God.
God wants to revive you and burn brighter in you than ever before. As the world gets darker, so God wants to shine brighter in you and through you.
Jesus is the light of the world!
Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
He wants to shine in you and through you!
Jesus said, “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” (Matthew 5:14-16)
God wants to light a new fire in your heart!
Seek God. Pray. Repent. Ask God to fan into flames a new passion in your heart.
Turn from sin. Turn your back on your old way of living and give God your whole life. Allow God to send his refiners fire. Let him burn out the chaff and restart a fire of passion in your heart.
Get closer to God. Get alone with God. Spend time with Him. Read God’s word. Ponder. Worship God. Linger in His presence. Draw close to God. Nothing can rekindle a new fire in your heart like when you spend quality time with Jesus.
Jesus gave his life for you. Surrender your life, along with your burdens and desires to God. Ask Jesus to baptize you with fire and the Holy Spirit. Ask Jesus to pour out His reviving fire on you. When God touches you, your life will never be the same again. Seek God. Pray more. Pray longer. Draw near. Live to please God. Make Jesus your first love. Get fired up for Jesus.
