Reorganize Your Financial Priorities

Today, I want to look at the subject of REORGANIZING YOUR FINANCIAL PRIORITIES.

You can put first things first.

Practical Wealth-Building Principle

Many are cash-strapped. Debt keeps many in bondage, and it leads to stress and much heartache. Debt also blocks people from being able to attain financial freedom.

Many have messed up financial priorities. I need to encourage you to REORGANIZE YOUR FINANCIAL PRIORITIES.

But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.” (Matthew 6:33)

When it comes to money, most people’s financial priorities look something like this:

  • You work hard and get paid on the 27th of the month
  • This gives you a little breather and allows for a small spending spree before the end of the month
  • On the 1st of the month, debit orders hit your bank account, and your cash flow is depleted
  • Debt repayments follow, ensuring that you are cash-strapped
  • By the end of the 1st week of the new month, you are left in survival mode as your cash flow is tight, and you still need to put food on the table. You are left with more month than money!
  • If by some miracle there is some cash left over, you may try to save a little and you may even give something to God.
  • This vicious cycle continues, leading one into a negative and defeated mindset. Many are left with a bleak outlook of: “what is the point of trying to budget or plan?”

Many people fail to put God first and develop a wealth plan because they set up their budgets the wrong way around.

Our spending order is out of whack! We should:

  1. Put God first (when you put God first and trust in Him, He will be your protector and provider)
  2. Save and Invest part of your income in order to build up wealth and provide a reserve
  3. Budget and manage your expenses. Spend what is left over to cover your living expenses

Many are feeling the impact of debt, where a large share of one’s take-home pay is used to cover debt repayments. With debt levels being extremely high, the average consumer is forced to live on only a fraction of their income. This adds stress and stunts one from ever building towards financial freedom. It is very difficult to provide for your family, let alone give to God, when we live life this!

WE HAVE OUR PRIORITIES MESSED UP. WE ARE MANAGING OUR MONEY THE WRONG WAY AROUND.

Imagine if you had no debt repayments to make, how your lifestyle and joy levels would improve.

To be average, just stay in debt and keep spending. You will live a stressed out life.

BUT…

The good news today is that YOU don’t have to be ordinary. You can set yourself up to be “extraordinary” by making some simple changes to the way you manage your money.

Many spend money they can’t afford to spend. Often, items are charged to credit cards, or loans are taken out to fund purchases. This leads to debt that needs to be repaid. The extra credit card repayments dries up cash flow as more money goes towards paying off the debt.

When in debt, it can feel like you have a leak in your bank account.

Debt erodes your earnings. Many work hard to provide for their families, but mid-way through the month, they have nothing left in the bank.

It is time to declare war on your debt.  It is time to do something about poor discipline and poor spending habits! Debt is a bondage! It can enslave you!

The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender. (Proverbs 22:7)

But there is a way out…

YOU CAN BREAK THE CYCLE.

DECLARE WAR ON DEBT AND BUILD TOWARDS FINANCIAL FREEDOM.

YOU CAN RE-ORGANISE YOUR FINANCIAL PRIORITIES.

PUT FIRST THINGS FIRST.

Commit to the Lord whatever you do and He will establish your plans. (Proverbs 16:3)

Interesting Fact

Good choices usually lead to a good outcome, while bad choices accumulated over time using end in heartache.

So make wise choices!

Power Quote of the Week

The decisions you make today will determine the stories we tell about our lives tomorrow. Everyday, all day, we make one decision after another. These choices keep accumulating, each one woven together into the rest, forming the tapestry that is our life story.” – Craig Groeschel

You are one choice away from changing your life for the good!

What Does God Have to Say?

Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper.” (Proverbs 13:4)

Lazy people are soon poor; hard workers get rich.” (Proverbs 10:4)

Don’t be lazy. Get disciplined and work at reorganizing your financial priorities.
