Prayer for Financial Freedom

person hands on holy bible

The Bible is clear…

But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth.” (Deuteronomy 8:18)

Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.” (Proverbs 21:5)

I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” (Psalm 32:8)

The wise man saves for the future, but the foolish man spends whatever he gets.” (Proverbs 21:20)

The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.” (Proverbs 22:7)

But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.” (Jeremiah 17:7-8)

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life.” (Proverbs 13:12)

I know that many are battling through challenging financial situations. This can lead to significant stress, heartache, and prevent people from reaching their dreams.

Today, we want to lift you before our mighty God and ask him to bring a breakthrough. And if you are struggling financially, I want to pray for you and ask God to give you great wisdom and set you on a path toward financial freedom.

Jesus Spoke a Lot about Money

In fact, besides eternity (heaven and hell), Jesus had a lot to say about money.

But why?

The reason Jesus spent so much time discussing money issues is that He knew people’s hearts, struggles, and concerns.

Think about it.

Many people spend most of their lives worrying and stressing over money issues.

Jesus knows that many are battling to make ends meet…

  • living above their means,
  • cash-strapped,
  • debt-ridden,
  • fearful that they won’t make it through the month,
  • weighted down by financial burdens,
  • just trying to survive,
  • going through the motions, and
  • disillusioned.

Jesus also knows that some people are…

  • chasing hard after money,
  • striving to get rich, and
  • scared about losing money.

Jesus also knows that many are confused about money…

  • How do I keep it?
  • How do I protect it?
  • How do I give it?
  • How do I invest it?
  • How do I spend it wisely?
  • How can I be a good steward?
  • How can I use money wisely?

Jesus spoke a lot about money because he knew many battled with money issues.

Before we pray for God to bring financial freedom to your life, I need to remind you that there is more to life than money.

Jesus said, And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?” (Mark 8:36)

In other words, don’t get too stuck up in money issues. You can’t take it with you. Instead, build your life on Jesus.

Jesus said, No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” (Matthew 6:24)

Don’t Put Your Faith in Money, Put Your Faith in God

The other day I heard Rick Warren say…

“Your salary is not your source.”
“Your savings are not your security.”

What wise words!

Remember, your hope cannot be in money.

You need to put your hope in God.

Make Jesus the centre of your life.

Look to Jesus as your source.

Jesus said, So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’” (Matthew 6:31)

Jesus continued, These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.” (Matthew 6:32)

Jesus concluded, Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” (Matthew 6:33)

Before we pray for God to bring financial freedom, I would like to give you the opportunity to turn back to Jesus.

Today, you can repent of your sins, your messes, and your mistakes, and you can surrender your life along with your burdens onto Jesus.

Maybe your salvation is a matter of change. Perhaps you have never invited Jesus Christ into your heart? Maybe you are living in sin? Perhaps you used to follow God, but you have drifted from God or grown cold and fallen away.

You can start a relationship with God. In eternity, there is a heaven and a hell, but 2000 years ago, Jesus died on the cross for you. He paid the full price for you.

Today, you can return to God. He can wash you clean. He can set you free. You can know that you are God’s Child. You can know Jesus as your Savior.

Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. (Romans 10:13)

Let’s pray…

Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for coming to bring me life and life more abundantly. I ask you to be by my Lord and Savior. Thank you for the price you paid on the cross for me so that I can be forgiven and become a child of God.  Today I repent of my sin. I ask you to forgive and cleanse me. I give you my life. Thank you that I am born again and that I have eternal life, and that today I have the privilege of having a close relationship with you. Please fill me with your Holy Spirit and lead me on the best pathway for my life. I put my life in your hands and thank you that you are my God. In Jesus’ name, Amen

If you have prayed this prayer, please contact us. We would love to pray for you and help you grow into a close walk with Jesus.

Once you have surrendered your life to Jesus, asked Him to be your Lord and Savior, you are…

  • A child of God.
  • Completely forgiven and cleansed because of the finished work of Jesus on the cross,
  • Part of God’s family, never having to face life alone.
  • Filled with the Holy Spirit who wants to lead and guide you.
  • Furthermore, your eternity is secure in God’s Kingdom.

As a child of God, you can now come boldly to God’s throne of grace and ask him to intervene in your life, and even in your financial affairs.

Give God Your Burdens

The Bible is clear that we have a High Priest in Jesus. He understands you. He knows what is up. He gets it.

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.” (Hebrews 4:15)

And we are implored not to face our struggles and burdens alone, but to approach our Savior, who can deliver, bring breakthrough, and light into the darkest and most impossible situations.

We are invited to bring our problems to Gold. He doesn’t want us to face our struggles alone. He wants you to bother him with your problems.

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” (Hebrews 4:16)

You may be…

  • Anxious about your money issues.
  • Troubled.
  • Stressed out.
  • Bound up in debt.
  • You may be overwhelmed.
  • The negative impact of your financial failures may have sapped your strength and stolen your joy.
  • Facing a financial storm.
  • You may be battling to hold it all together.
  • It may seem like there is no light at the end of the tunnel.

I believe God can make a way. He is the God of the breakthrough.

Today, I Would Like to Offer a Prayer for You…

You can approach God’s throne of grace.

You can give Jesus your burdens.

Jesus said, Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

“Come boldly to the throne of our gracious God.”

We are told that at the feet of Jesus, we can come boldly and give all our concerns, worries, and pressing issues to Him.

We are told, There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”

If you are trying to do life alone, invite Jesus to be your source.

Give him your burdens.
We all mess up.
We have all made mistakes.
Come boldly to God’s throne of grace.
Give him your worries.
He will help you.
You can receive his mercy and grace.
He will come to your rescue.

Remember…

All things are possible with God.” (Matthew 19:26)

God can make rivers flow in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:19)

If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)

God can cause all things to work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

I am the Lord, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me?”(Jeremiah 32:27)

So, let us pray and ask God to bring a breakthrough and financial freedom to you.

Dear Father,

You know what each one of us is facing. You know everything. You know what is best. You know what the right thing to do is.

Lord, thank you that you are my God and my Saviour.

Thank you for being my refuge in the middle of my storm.

Thank you for allowing me to approach you. I would appreciate your help.

Lord, I repent of my sins and shortcomings.

Lord, I cast my cares and burdens upon you, along with my fears, my frustrations, and my financial failures.

Lord, I know that nothing is impossible for you.

Lord, I know that you can cause rivers to flow in deserts.

Lord, please bring breakthrough.

Lord, please make a way out of my mess. I ask for a fresh start.

Lord, please turn it all around. Lord, I know you can do a miracle.

Lord, please grant me wisdom and revelation to make good choices and decisions.

Lord, deliver me from debt.

Lord, please remove the stress and pressure and grant me your peace, and cause me to prosper.

Lord, give me the ability to generate wealth.

Lord, please provide for me and cause me to prosper.

Lord, please take the frustration and bring freedom.

Lord, please take my failure and grant me your favour so I can flourish.

Lord, I set my eyes on you.

From today, I want to build my life on you.

From today, I choose to seek first your Kingdom and to live right.

I surrender all to you.

Lord, please close doorways that lead to destruction, and open doors to new opportunities.

Lord, please take away the stress and tension, and help me to surrender all to you and trust fully in you.

Lord, I give you my worries and ask you to make a way.

Lord, please empower me to live right.

Lord, please grant me the ability to generate wealth.

Lord, take away the bondage and bring about a breakthrough.

Lord, please take my mess, and do a miracle.

Lord, please give me my daily bread, and lead me not into temptation.

Lord, please take me off the pathway of poverty and place me on a path to financial freedom.

I ask this all, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, My Lord and Savior.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

My God bless you…

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

Keep your eyes on Jesus…

Keep your lives free from the love of money. Be happy with what you have. God has said, “I will never leave you or let you be alone.” So we can say for sure, “The Lord is my Helper. I am not afraid of anything man can do to me.” (Hebrews 13:5-6)
