Jesus saves

Jesus saves, and we are in the business of saving lives.
The name Jesus means Savior. He came to rescue us, to save us.
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” (Luke 19:10)
“You are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21)
“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 3:17)
The problem:
Jesus warned of hell.
“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” (Matthew 10:28)
The solution:
God loves the world so much that He sent Jesus to save us.
He paid the highest price for our sin on the cross.
We are called to be God’s ambassadors…
We are called to reach out to those who are lost and hurting. He has called us to save those who are lost.
“Be merciful to those who doubt; save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.” (Jude 1:22-23)
If you are a firefighter and you see a house on fire with people inside, and you don’t take action, you cannot be a true firefighter.
If a real fireman sees a person trapped in a burning building, he will do everything possible to get that person out of the fire, even risking his life to save the person.
If you are a lifeguard and you see someone drowning, and you just let the person sink, you are not a real lifesaver.
A real lifesaver will swim out, even risking his life, to get to the drowning man to save him.
Likewise, if you call yourself a Christian but don’t reach out to the hurting and the lost, you should reconsider your faith.
If a person is living a life devoid of God and their eternity is at risk and of the fires of hell, how can you not reach out in love and share the Gospel of Jesus?
If a preacher doesn’t take time to warn people of the dangers of hell and the consequences of sin, and take the time to share the incredible love of God, and how, through the finished work of Jesus on the cross, we can be saved, then I would suggest you examine your calling.
People are lost.
Broken.
Hopeless.
Bound.
Disconnected from God.
Jesus, make the way to save all mankind. We need to reach out in love and tell the world that Jesus is alive and that He saves.
