Financial Freedom Series: Build Towards a Bright and Blessed Future
How are your finances looking?
Many are deep in debt. So many people seem financially stressed out and are battling to make ends meet.
Poor money management often leaves one feeling that their bank account is leaking, like money has evaporated into thin air.
No matter how bad your current situation seems, you can turn your financial affairs around. You can break the debt cycle and begin afresh. You can regain control over your financial affairs.
7 steps to build towards a brighter tomorrow:
If you want to work towards a BRIGHTER tomorrow, consider the following tips…
- Have a dream for the future. Without a goal for the future, you will have nothing to aspire towards. This can leave you feeling like there is no point in life. You need to dream again.
“Where there is no vision, the people perish.” (Proverbs 29:18)
- A dream without a plan will leave you frustrated. It is, therefore, vital to set up a plan. If you plan carefully and set up a strategy, you can move forward from where you currently are to where you want to be and ensure that you achieve your goals and your God-ordained purpose over time.
“Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty” (Proverbs 21:5)
- Review your budget and ensure you live within your means.
Jesus said, “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?” (Matthew 14:28)
- Set up a debt attack plan and make it a goal to reduce your debt over the next year. Less debt = less debt repayments = better cash flow.
“The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.” (Proverbs 22:7)
- Instead of having to take on more debt when tough times hit or when an opportunity arises, you can build up a cash reserve of 3 to 6 months’ salary, ensuring that you have available cash to cover potential emergencies and opportunities that may arise.
“The wise man saves for the future, but the foolish man spends whatever he gets.” (Proverbs 21:20)
- Make sure that you have adequate risk protection in place: Ensure that you have enough life cover, income protection insurance, disability cover, and dread disease cover to settle debts and provide for your loved ones in the event of a tragic event or accident. Also, ensure that you have good healthcare coverage in place to protect your loved ones in the event of sickness and insure your assets.
“Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” (1 Timothy 5:8)
- Build up a diversified growth investment portfolio. It takes time to build up sufficient wealth to fund retirement. Make sure that you start early and that you invest part of your income regularly. If you do this monthly over the long term, you will benefit from compounding interest and will build a wealth portfolio.
“He who gathers money little by little makes it grow.” (Proverbs 13:11)
You can set yourself up for a BRIGHTER financial tomorrow if you implement the above set-up suggestions.
4 steps to build towards a Blessed future:
If you want to build towards a BLESSED FUTURE, I would like to suggest that you also consider the following…
- Give Jesus first place in your life. He knows what is up! He wants a personal walk with you. Put Him first!
Jesus said, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33)
Jesus said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” (John 10:10)
- Commit your plans to God. Don’t try to go through life alone. God wants to help you. Surrender all to Him.
“Commit your work to the Lord and then your plans will succeed.” (Proverbs 16:3)
- Honor God and be a blessing.
“Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine.” (Proverbs 3:9-10)
“Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” (Proverbs 11:24-25)
- Build an eternal relationship with God. Jesus wants to do life with you. There is more to life than just the here and now. He made you to live forever. Make certain of your eternity. You can start a relationship with God that can start today and goes right on into eternity.
“How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.” (James 4:14)
“For God so loved the world (YOU) that he gave his one and only Son (JESUS), that whoever believes in him shall not perish (HELL) but have eternal life (HEAVEN). For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
You can set yourself up for a brighter tomorrow by managing your money well.
But more importantly, you can set yourself up for a blessed eternal future by inviting Jesus to be your Lord and Savior and by living a surrendered life to him.
