Don’t allow your past failures to define your future.

You may have made mistakes. You may have messed up. The enemy will continually remind you of your failures. He will tell you there is no hope and no way out.

I have good news for you. How you start the race does not determine who you are; it is how you finish the race that does.

You may be far behind. You may have failed, but God can forgive you for your past mistakes and bad decisions. He can stop the rot and set you free. God can even catapult you into the very destiny for which he made you. He can your broken life and restore you.

This is possible only because of Jesus. He came to seek and save the lost. He paid the price for our mess-ups and mistakes on the cross so that all who call on him can find new life.

1 Peter 5:6-11

“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time, he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are. In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation. All power to him forever! Amen.”

Don’t let your past shortcomings define your future, no matter who you are or where you find yourself. Just because you have failures, you don’t have to let this define your future.

Romans 10:13…

Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Today, repent of your past sins. Turn from your old life and turn to Jesus. Allow him to cleanse you and restore you.

Psalms 51:1-12…

“Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins. Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin. For I recognize my rebellion; it haunts me day and night. Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight. You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is just. For I was born a sinner— yes, from the moment my mother conceived me. But you desire honesty from the womb, teaching me wisdom even there. Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Oh, give me back my joy again; you have broken me— now let me rejoice. Don’t keep looking at my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Do not banish me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.”

You can confidently approach him because of what Jesus accomplished on the cross.

Hebrews 4:16…

Come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”
