Are you caught between a rock and a hard place? God can deliver you!

Life can be hard. Sometimes we face curve balls that can knock us off course. Sometimes we take hard knocks. 

You may have taken a bitter blow, but know that no matter how bad things are, God is able to cause everything to work out for the good. 

God wants the best for you!

If you are God’s child, you can rest assured that he wants the best for you. He knows what you are facing, and he knows what is best for you. Keep seeking him. He can fix what is broken.

Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

God can cause ALL things to work out for the good. In fact, he wants to do life with you. 

Psalms 32:8 says, “The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”

Do you feel enslaved or oppressed?

In the book of Exodus, it tells how God’s people turned away from God. In their rebellion, they ended up in slavery in Egypt. They were treated harshly. God’s people were enslaved in bondage and oppression In their desperation they cried out to God. 

Exodus 2:23-25 tells us that, “The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God. God heard their groaning, and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. So, God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them.”

God saw their pain.

God heard their desperate cries for help, and he was moved.

Cry out to God!

If you are in trouble or oppressed, I want to encourage you to cry out to God. 

Psalms 34:6 says, “In my desperation, I prayed, and the Lord listened; he saved me from all my troubles.”

God set up a plan to deliver his people out of bondage. God’s plan involved raising up a leader in Moses. God unleashed a series of unnatural disasters and plagues on the land of Egypt to weaken the oppressive grip that Pharaoh had on his people. After droughts, disaster, disease, and death ravaged Egypt, the Pharaoh let God’s people go and they walked out of their bondage.

God had a plan to lead his people into the Promised Land, a land of plenty, flowing with milk and honey. 

However, shortly after their departure from their bondage and slavery, there was a twist in events. Pharaoh had a change of heart and sent out his army to capture Israel. 

It looked like Israel was caught between a rock and a hard place. The Egyptian army overtook the Israelites at the Red Sea, leaving them literally caught between the devil and the deep blue sea. 

Israel looked like they were about to be defeated. They were literally surrounded with no way out. 

The Israelites were obviously petrified. 

But in Exodus 14:13-14 Moses told his people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

God caused a pillar of cloud to form between the approaching Egyptian army and his people.

God can bring light to your path, no matter how dark things are!

The Egyptian army was left in darkness while Israel had light. God instructed Moses to raise his staff and stretch out his hand over the sea. 

In Exodus 14:21-22 it tells us, “That night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.”

God then told Moses in Exodus 14:26, “Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may flow back over the Egyptians and their chariots and horsemen.” 

God literally swept the enemy away. The entire army of Pharaoh was wiped out. Not one of them survived. 

Exodus 14:29-31 tells us that, “The Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left. That day the Lord saved Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore. And when the Israelites saw the mighty hand of the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.”

God delivered his people, and he can deliver you.

No matter what you are facing today, or where you find yourself, I want to implore you to put your hope in God.

If you are oppressed or enslaved, God can deliver you. Even if you find yourself caught between a rock and a hard place, or between the devil and the deep blue sea, know that God can make a way.

No matter how impossible your situation looks, know that God is able to deliver you.

God opened the Red Sea. He led his people out of bondage. He set them free. 

What did God’s people do after this experience?

Firstly, they put their trust in God. 

Have you done this?

If not, know that God wants to be your God. 

We were cut off from God because of sin, but God sent his son Jesus. Jesus paid the full price on the cross so that we can come back into a relationship with God.

Just like the Israelites went through the Red Sea, Jesus shed his blood so that we could be set free. And just like God’s plan was to lead his people into the Promised Land, God has prepared a place for you to spend eternity with Him in His Kingdom.

After God delivered his people, they put their trust in Him. And they celebrated this victory. God had mightily delivered them from their bondage and oppression. He had broken the chains that had enslaved them. They worshipped God.
